It helps enormously if you say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and — for anything involving a scan — what was on screen in Pokémon GO at the time.

Screen scanning

The scan will not start

Scanning uses iOS's own screen-broadcast system, so iOS asks for permission every time and you have to tap Allow on its sheet. PoGoDex cannot start a scan on its own and cannot skip that prompt.

If the sheet appears and nothing happens after you allow it, force-quit PoGoDex and try once more. If the picker appears with no PoGoDex option in it, restart the phone — iOS occasionally loses track of newly installed broadcast extensions.

It read the wrong numbers

The reader works from the appraisal screen — the one with the three Attack / Defense / HP bars. From any other screen there is no IV information to read, and CP alone cannot produce an IV.

Check that the whole appraisal panel is visible and that you are not mid-animation. Anything PoGoDex was unsure about is flagged in the review step before saving, and every field can be corrected by hand there. If a particular Pokémon reads wrong every time, send a screenshot — that is the single most useful thing you can send.

Does it touch my Pokémon GO account?

No. PoGoDex reads the screen and nothing else. It never signs in, never contacts Niantic's servers, never asks for your account, and never changes anything in the game. No app should ever ask you for your Pokémon GO login.

Where do the frames go?

Nowhere. They are read on your device and deleted as they are read — no video is written to disk and no frame is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy.

Subscriptions

I paid, but PoGoDex says I am not subscribed

Tap Restore on the subscription screen. There is no account in PoGoDex, so a restore against your Apple Account is the only way it can learn that you have paid — on a new phone, or after reinstalling.

If Restore finds nothing, check that you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase. A brand-new install with no internet connection cannot be told whether you have paid, so connect once and try again.

How do I cancel?

In Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Apple owns subscriptions, so cancelling has to happen there and PoGoDex cannot do it for you. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds

Refunds are handled entirely by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue or refuse them, though we are happy to help you work out what went wrong first.

Your data

Exporting or erasing everything

Both are on the profile page inside the app. Export writes a JSON file you can keep or move; erase destroys the saved collection outright. Neither asks anybody's permission, because there is nobody to ask — your data has never left your phone.

I lost my collection

Everything is stored on the device, so it travels in an iPhone backup but not between phones on its own. If you are moving to a new phone, restoring from a backup brings it across. There is no cloud copy for us to recover — that is the trade-off for having no account and no server.

Live data

A raid boss or Rocket line-up looks out of date

Raids, Max battles, Rocket line-ups and the PvP rankings are fetched from public community projects rather than from Niantic, so they follow whenever those projects update. If a fetch fails, PoGoDex keeps the snapshot bundled with the app rather than showing nothing, and dates what it is showing once it is more than a couple of days old.

Something is plainly wrong in the data

Please do write in. A wrong stat or move is usually wrong upstream, and knowing about it is how it gets fixed.
